Speaking to Natalie Vincent, news and digital editor of Havering Magazine, Division Partner Peter Higgins discusses why industry is moving East to Havering:
Glenny has completed three large-scale transactions on key industrial sites in Rainham and Romford, in the London Borough of Havering.
SEGRO Park Rainham (formerly Beam Reach Business Park) will be completed at the end of November, comprising five warehouse units totalling approximately 6,968sq m and a 42-unit site of 232sq m called Enterprise Quarter, which is targeted to SMEs and start-up companies.
A joint venture between developer SEGRO and the Greater London Authority to regenerate empty industrial land in east London, the Rainham-based park will bring up to 4,400 jobs to the area.
Divisional partner at Glenny, Peter Higgins, said: “We represent Segro, which is currently on site constructing a new warehouse development. The scheme will provide occupiers a chance to operate from an extremely well-located estate, with good transport road links to both central London and the motorway network to Medway, thanks to its close proximity to the A13.
“The scheme offers prospective tenants exemplary logistics space and provides excellent access to occupiers’ target markets.”
Construction businesses are moving into new industrial warehouse units in Romford, with London Timber taking a long-term lease on a 1,207sq m warehouse at Viper Industrial Estate, and Essex Bi-folding Doors committing to space at the adjacent Trade City estate. Both sites are in close proximity to building supply retailer Screwfix.
Higgins explained the attraction of traders to the area: “Builders, merchants, plumbing merchants and similar, like to cluster together in close short proximity to each other, as this makes it easy to provide access for a larger customer base; a one-stop-shop, if you like.”
